When we got wind that the UK’s biggest indoor vegan event of the year VegfestUK was returning to the capital after a 3-year hiatus, we set a challenge for our foodie collaborators to see if an event without a single piece of meat, fish or animal produce would still entice… we were pleasantly surprised by the results!
Olympia Grand played host to an incredible extravaganza of all things vegan and plant based which was enjoyed by everyone – even sceptical carnivores!

As a long-term cruelty-free vegetarian, attending Vegfest for the first time felt like a dream. No stranger to a plant-based expo, I had high hopes. Safe to say my expectations were exceeded tenfold. Delectable samples from Mouses Favourite, toothpicks at the ready, as my mouth wrapped its way around vegan camembert, oozing blissfully. Sweet treats were there in bounty, vegan creme-egg style chocolate from Mummy Meegz. And who could forget the celebratory line at Omni Foods, whose tuna slathered on crackers, was incredibly moreish? Raw & Wild was another highlight, activated Pili nuts in a range of flavours. Washed down with smooth vegan milk (courtesy of The Good Pea), Vegfest, wasn’t short of surprises.
And it wasn’t just food and drink that had stolen my heart. Beautiful animal sanctuaries like The Little Green Pigeon, had a range of colourful mugs, blankets, and greeting cards that raised money to rehabilitate gorgeous pigeons. There was skincare, beauty, and miscellaneous too. Root Minerals, a natural makeup brand whose stunning eyeshadows glinted in the sunlight. Topaz, jade, and gold too, a beautiful contrast to the rainbow bath bombs that awaited at Lush, just around the corner. When it came to sustainability, however? Award winning sustainable skincare brand Whitfords had it in spades. Plastic free botanical skincare, massaged into my skin lovingly. The stalls were magical, the people were charming, and the atmosphere was oh so welcoming. Together animal lovers, environmental enthusiasts, vegans, vegetarians and everyone in between came to celebrate the power of vegan culture. I couldn’t help but be bewitched. I would be back next year, there was no question about it.

Food stands offered menus from across the globe ensure no shortage of tempting plant based street food, and the addition of a number of artisan food producers, including an array of cakes and savouries ensures that visitors to Vegfest are spoiled for choice when it comes to devouring vegan options.
It wasn’t just the food however – a whole world of plant based lifestyle opened up with a plethora of vegan footwear, accessories, clothing, body care, make up, and other plant based lifestyle options.
Karin Ridgers, a vegan of 25 years and presenter at VegfestUK shared; “I have never know a time like this with so much awareness, interest and vegan choices – especially in London! Everywhere I look I see the word vegan! It is a fantastic lifestyle as being vegan is much more than your food. It is how you live, what you support, the clothes you wear and making kinder choices for you, the animals and the planet. Mind you I didn’t find it hard 25 years ago – especially with events such as VegfestUK championing veganism for 20 years”!
