6 Tips to Help Adjust Your Skincare Routine this Winter | My Soho Times

It’s winter and there has been a definite drop in temperature; cue-in frosty mornings and snowfall at night! So just as we make changes to our wardrobe this time of year, it’s also important to adjust your skincare routine to the colder weather. Our beauty contributor Grace Alexandra shares 6 helpful tips and products

DON’T FORGET YOUR SPF

Remember to continue wearing your SPF even though it isn’t as warm and sunny outside! it’s still so important to protect your skin throughout winter! UVA rays are still present even though it may be cloudy, and they can also impact your skin through windows causing skin damage. I love the Bondi Sands Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 ± for Face and wear this every day.

CLEANSING BALMS

As your skin produces less oil in winter and is often dryer, it’s important to use a gentle cleanser. I absolutely love cleansing balms; they are great for dry and sensitive skin. One of my favourites is the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. It is perfect for removing makeup alone or as the first step in a double cleanse.

FACE MASKS

Our skin can be so much drier in the winter, so it’s a good idea to use more moisturising products. I love applying a hydrating face masks because I find it is also a lovely self-care activity!

I thought I’d include my favourite face mask at the moment. Comfort Zone’s Hydramemory mask is a gel-based face mask with express hydrating results! You only need to leave it on for 3 minutes so it’s really quick and easy yet very beneficial for your skin. Instantly after using this my skin feels fresh and moisturised!

SERUMS

Using a serum is really important to ensure your skin is hydrated as they work deeper and provide greater results than if you were to just use a moisturiser alone. The Fresh Tea Elixir Serum is a brilliant serum which is suitable for all skin types and is clinically proven to make skin smoother and bouncier. I have noticed that my skin appears more glowy also since I have started using this serum.

MOISTURISERS

In the colder months it’s also worth investing in a thicker moisturiser to ensure your skin is more hydrated. In the morning I use Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 and in the evening I use Elemis Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream. These are two very luxurious products that I find to be brilliant at keeping my skin hydrated.

LIP BALM

The cold weather tends to leave our lips very dry. I recommend carrying a good lip balm with you or using an overnight moisturising balm.

My favourite is the Laneige lip sleeping mask it really helps to ensure my lips remain moisturised throughout winter!

Have you adapted your skin care routine for the winter yet?
