Why add vintage pieces to you home?
Vintage pieces can add a touch of timeless elegance to any home interior. From antique furniture to retro decor accessories, the beauty of vintage lies in their ability to tell a story and create a sense of nostalgia. These five simple tips from the pre-loved champion, interior expert Pearl Lowe are perfect for anyone thinking about a more sustainable way to create a sense of charm and sophistication to their home.
1. Re-frame
Take all your modern frames out of their pictures and replace them with vintage ones. These can be found in local antique shops, charity shops or flea markets. I love the gold ones. They work so beautifully on a gallery wall.
2. Antique Rugs
Antique Persian or Turkish rugs are a lovely vintage addition to any flat or house. I sometimes layer them, especially if I’m not keen on the carpet underneath.
3. Lace and Crochet
I love vintage lace or vintage crochet throws. I put them on windows and tables, and I use them as bedspreads. I love them in kids’ rooms too. They make small rooms have that vintage ‘cottagey’ look.
4. Flower Power
I have recently discovered a newfound love for vintage floral oil paintings and faux flowers are the perfect addition to any vintage home.
5. Fringe it
Antique fringe lamps look wonderful in living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms.
