Daisy Green Collection’s Colony Room Green, curated by Darren Coffield, has fast become a venue celebrating contemporary bohemian culture, seeing print launches, live music, and talks in this intimate space that carries on the rich legacy of its namesake, the Colony Room Club. This month, the venue is home to an exciting array of events, including art exhibitions and thought-provoking panel discussions. We’ve rounded up some events taking place this month that we think you should know about:

Bringing Home The Bacon

Coinciding with Clive Jennings‘ exhibition, at the same venue is Bringing Home The Bacon, a great series of events, talks, and screenings dedicated to exploring the complex life and works of Francis Bacon and his cherished haunt, the Colony Room, where many artistic conversations flowed and creative sparks ignited. Details of the engaging series are outlined below.

Wed 4th Dec – A Portrait of Henrietta Moraes: Join renowned artist Maggi Hambling in an intimate conversation with Darren Coffield, as they delve deep into the life and influence of Hambling’s muse and former lover, Henrietta Moraes, examining her impact on both art and personal narratives.

Mon 9th Dec – A Portrait of Muriel Belcher: Catherine Shakespeare Lane will engage in a fascinating dialogue with Darren Coffield, shedding light on the infamous proprietor of the Colony Room, whose bold spirit and unique vision created a haven for some of the most influential artists of the 20th century.

Wed 11 Dec – Bringing Home the Bacon: Anticipate a special sneak preview of a new feature-length documentary that captures the essence of Bacon’s vibrant life, intertwined with the history of the Colony Room, offering viewers a multi-dimensional perspective on this iconic figure and his circle.

Mon 16th Dec – A Portrait of Isabel Rawsthorne: Joneen Casey will converse with Darren Coffield about her new biography that explores the life of Bacon’s model and muse, Isabel Rawsthorne, revealing the intricate layers of their relationship and Rawsthorne’s own artistic achievements.

Wed 18th Dec – Francis Bacon and the New London Film Society: Attend a thought-provoking talk focused on the life of Bacon’s esteemed friend, Olwen Vaughn, who not only ran the renowned Le Petit Club but also served as the secretary for the New London Film Society, contributing significantly to the cultural fabric of the time and Bacon’s artistic journeys.
