Dine like a Parisian at Blanchette | My Soho Times

Soho, with its historic connection to French culture, has been a vibrant hub of diversity and heritage for centuries. When writing about Soho in 1720, John Strype, the historian and vicar of Leyton noted, “the abundance of French people”. The area’s ties to French culture can be traced back to the 18th century when French Calvinist Protestants, known as Huguenots, sought refuge in the area.

In more contemporary times, Soho continues to echo its historic past through its charming rustic French restaurants and Pubs, serving as a reminder of the enduring influence of French culture in the neighbourhood. Located on the quintessentially French-sounding D’Arblay Street, Blanchette is a French bistro oozing Parisian charm. Nicholas Cox shares more…

Blanchette

Tucked down a Soho side street, it’s a cosy, rustic French bistro with Art Nouveau tiled walls and exposed brickwork, bentwood bar stools, and shabby chic cabinets lifted straight out of a Provençal farmhouse, all set off with artfully chaotic arrangements of wildflowers. It’s run by three French brothers with the aim of creating a convivial atmosphere surrounding good food and drink. The simple 2-course Lunch & Pre-theatre set menu costs £19.50 (3-course £23) plus £33 for a Bergerie De La Bastide Languedoc. View the latest offerings on the à la carte menu here.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner for two or a lively gathering with friends, Blanchette’s warm and cosy atmosphere makes it the perfect destination for anyone seeking an authentic and charming dining experience.
