SohoEats: Summer Lunch Spots Worth Your Break | My Soho Times

Summer has officially arrived in Soho, and what better way to make the most of it than by transforming your lunchtime routine? Whether you’re darting out from the office or soaking up the sun in Soho Square, there are plenty of spots offering everything from vibrant salads to hearty sandwiches. Evie Allen-Jones shares her top picks to help you break out of your lunch rut and try something new of what Soho has to offer this season.

Mildreds Soho

A new favourite of mine for a takeaway lunch is Mildreds. Just in time for the warmer weather, they’ve launched their delicious new summer salads! London’s powerhouse of plant-based dining, Mildreds, is breathing new life into lunch with their Lunch Box To Go, served straight from the restaurant’s window hatch on Lexington Street. For just £12, choose from three supercharged salads and a soft drink — plant-packed and easy on the pocket!

I absolutely love all of the new options. The Rainbow Connection is loaded with crispy, colourful slaw and sesame soba noodles, paired with a rich peanut satay dip. There’s also Run the Jewels, tossed with pomegranate salad and creamy hummus, and All That Green, finished with a chilli-lime dressing and a side of avocado pea smash.

Perfect for a sunny Soho Square picnic — but don’t wait around! Lunch boxes are freshly made each morning and only available Monday to Friday, noon–2pm (or until sold out!).

Bibi’s Kitchen

One of my favourite lunchtime go-tos in Soho is Bibi’s Kitchen. Bibi’s is a healthy and affordable home-made food spot with locations all around London. Whether you’re going to visit the Tate Modern on Bankside or stopping by their Golden Square location, you will never be disappointed.

Their menu includes Bibi’s family recipes and signature salads. I always recommend trying their Family Recipe Hot Dishes alongside their Turmeric and Chickpeas Signature Salad. There is so much to choose from, and each meal can be customised for what fits you!

Prices start from £8.85 for a small salad box and £9.95 for a large salad box.

Yolk

I recently visited Yolk’s new Holborn store to try some of their fantastic sandwiches. The new store has a brand-new menu and an open kitchen showcasing just how freshly made all of Yolk’s sandwiches and salad bowls are…. I can confirm the matcha and steak béarnaise sandwich is a perfect combo!

Yolk is a great stop for freshly made hot sandwichessalad bowls, and excellent coffee. They’ve even launched a Brew Club subscription service offering food and drink discounts. During May, members could get 50% off lunch, breakfast, and matcha – so keep an eye out for future offers.

There are locations across London, including their new High Holborn store and in Soho, Golden Square.

Prices from £6.90 (Sandwiches) and £8.90 (Hot Pots)

It’s Bagels

Known for their NYC-inspired bagels and coffee (already popular in Notting Hill and Primrose Hill), this iconic brand recently landed in Soho and brought serious deli energy with it.

Offering a large menu of bagel flavours and fillings, it’s easy to mix and match. My go-to order for a sunny-day picnic? Chicken Salad on a Sesame Bagel – trust me, you won’t go back to anything else once you’ve tried it! However, if you’re on a budget, their classic bagels are just as satisfying.

Inside, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped straight into a Lower East Side Manhattan deli – complete with memorabilia and merch. A fab spot for a flavour-packed lunch that won’t break the bank.

Prices start at £5 for plain bagels.

Köd Soho

Tucked away on St Anne’s Court, off Dean Street, Köd is a sleek Danish steakhouse bringing a touch of Nordic cool to Soho’s dining scene. Known for its quality cuts and relaxed yet refined atmosphere, Köd is a great pick if you’re in the mood to treat yourself, especially at lunchtime when it’s a bit quieter (12–2.30pm). Their Lunch Special includes a 230g Ribeye for £24.50, offering a more accessible way to enjoy their signature steakhouse experience without the evening crowds. Whether you’re hosting a client, catching up with a friend, or simply elevating your midday break, Köd delivers on flavour and ‘hygge‘ (cosy) atmosphere.

Capilungo

Just a short stroll from Soho in Covent Garden, Capilungo offers a delicious taste of Southern Italy from morning through evening. Their brunch and lunch menu — served daily from 8:30am — includes signature pasticciotto(shortcrust pies filled with indulgent cream), rustico pastries, pizzettas, and Italian-style small plates. For a sweet treat, try the classic custard or Amarena cherry pasticciotto.

This summer, Capilungo has launched a new residency dinner service downstairs, in collaboration with acclaimed chef Claudio Tripodi. Together, they’ve crafted an evolving evening menu that blends Southern Italian tradition with fine-dining flair. Highlights include Burrata di Stagione with sweet peas, mint oil, and lemon zest, and Pici Carbonara di Mare, a delicate pasta dish enriched with smoked salmon and roe caviar. A perfect spot for a romantic dinner or special occasion, available Thursday to Saturday.

Prices from £3.50–£6 (pastries), and from £8.50 (brunch)
📍 76 Long Acre, London WC2E 9LB

Soho is bursting with lunch options that match any mood — from colourful salads to indulgent bagels, and everything in between. Whether you’re perched on a bench in Golden Square, picnic-ing in the park, or catching a quiet moment indoors, these spots will upgrade your lunchtime routine.

Next time you’re out and about, ditch the meal deal and treat yourself to something truly delicious. Your taste buds (and your midday mood) will thank you.
