A year ago, a seven-storey townhouse opened on Poland Street and flipped the script on London nightlife. From the start, this venue set itself apart with an open-door policy (well, open to those who passed the RSVP filter): No velvet ropes, no VIP booths. Here, everyone’s on the same level.
Celebrating Like You’re at a Family Reunion
One year on, House Party is still doing things differently. On Thursday, I was back under that familiar roof to celebrate its first birthday. If you’ve ever been to one of these nights, you’ll know the feeling. Walking through the door is like turning up at your auntie’s house for a family reunion: catching up with the cousins, vibing to throwbacks in the kitchen, and yes, even downing shots with Stormzy himself (who was on classic host mode, and as generous as ever).
Launched by British-Ghanaian rapper Stormzy and hospitality agency Cream Group, the concept was simple: recreate the essence of a real house party. The kind where you’re bound to bump into someone you haven’t seen in years along the stairs, where you can chill with a drink in any of the rooms, or most likely, dance the night away in the kitchen (the heart of any home).
In a city overflowing with high-concept venues, House Party leans hard into playful nostalgia. Every detail, from the kitchen sets and old-school props to the themed “rooms” across seven floors, is crafted to feel like you’ve been time-warped to ’96 (there’s even a genuine Yellow Pages phonebook as a prop for reference). It’s intentionally over the top, but somehow still manages to feel familiar. That’s the charm; part immersive theatre, part actual party… but most importantly, all 100% good vibes.
Stormzy, co-founder of House Party, shared:
“It all started with a simple idea: to bring back parties that actually felt alive. No velvet ropes, no VIP sections — just good people and great music. Somehow, we made that happen in Soho from the get-go. Now, a year in, we’re super grateful for the support that’s kept us going and helped us grow. All I’m saying is… we’re ready for another big year.”
New Surprises Dropping Weekly
This June, to mark the one-year milestone, the house is going all out:
✨ Secret kitchen sets with surprise artists
🍻 Anniversary partners like 1664 Bière on tap
🎵 Pop-up performances across the floors
🎉 And the return of those legendary 10pm surprises — from basement raves to rooftop moments.
But it doesn’t stop there.
Also launching this month is Streetstakes, House Party’s playful twist on the Postcode Lottery. Starting 6th June, everyone who scores an invite gets a Streetstakes ticket on entry. Each Thursday at 5pm, a live draw on HPTV (via Instagram) reveals the winning combo — match all four, and you get the keys to the whole house. That’s right: a private party for you and 50 mates, £1,000 bar tab, and the full House Party experience. Four parties are up for grabs this June.
For those craving a slower burn, the venue has also introduced The Pause Pack — an afterparty essential featuring a lighter, incense burner, and cigarette-style incense sticks (labdanum + sage, no less). Designed for that moment when the music dips but the mood still lingers.
Late-Night Pizza Delivery via Deliveroo
And let’s not forget the food. Even if you’re not out-out, you can still get a taste. Their NYC-style 18-inch XXL pizza slices — including Pepperoni & Hot Honey, Pineapple Express, and crispy tater tots — are now available via Deliveroo (search “House Party Soho”), Thursday to Saturday, 8pm–2am.
