London Pride 2014 has come to an end, though as I’m writing this post at after 1am, I can hear a group of party-goers singing their lungs out “That’s amore…” Pride London might be over, but the Pride party in Soho has no indication to end anytime soon.
If I told you this was my first time at any Pride festival would you believe me? 10 years in Soho and I’ve avoided them like the plague – but only because I can’t deal with the hustle and bustle of the over-crowding, the litter and the noise (try having 500+ people at your doorstep)! This year however, I made an effort to check it out and show my support to the LGBT community and join in the festivity as thousands of people did flocking into central London. I have to admit the litter situation still made me cringe (yes it’s unsightly, but more so that I’m just paranoid about mice finding their way to my flat!)
Overall I loved the atmosphere in Soho, seeing the diversity of London, and a reflection of how significant Soho to many people. And I was proud to be part of Pride… Even if I was a virgin prider!
