The Tier 4 lockdown in London and Southeast announcement has left a grey cloud over our heads. However, as they say, every cloud has a silver lining – it’s up to us to see it!
We’ve had a busy weekend distributing Christmas food items to some of our senior citizen neighbours, thanks to our friends and partners; Tesco Dean Street and B Bagel Bakery Bar! The move into Tier 4 means even more of our elderly neighbours will be spending the festive season without family, friends or arranged support bubbles. Please spare a thought to those most vulnerable this season.
We distributed seven tote bags full of goodies: Tesco Panettone (an Italian type of sweet bread originally from Milan), Christmas cake (for those without the panettone), Tesco mince pies, Twinings herbal tea, Jacobs cheese biscuits, freshly baked bagels from B Bagel Bakery Bar Soho, the latest issue of My Soho Times (with Gok Wan on the front cover!) + My Soho Times gift guide, and a personally signed Christmas card from Kai on behalf of all involved.
This experience has us thinking up a “Young at Heart” feature dedicated to our senior citizen neighbours who have the history of Soho as part of their stories… Like Rena who shared she’s 95 in a few months time and has lived in Soho since 1929!… What do you think?
Special thanks to @tescofood, @bbagelbakery for the food donations, Justina of JMComms for the pictures, local resident Sandra for the support, and @the.soho.girl for the initiative, packing and distribution. We’d love to make this an ongoing initiative. Please get in touch if you’d like to make any donations. email@example.com
